Permissions

Training and certification is required by any clinician, health professional, or worker who wishes to administer, score and/or interpret the MoCA test.

The program is based on MoCA Full version 8.1, but is required regardless of the version the examiner intends to use. The specific instructional PDF for each version must be followed for administration and scoring.

Clinical use

Publications

If you would like to print the MoCA in a book or in another source, please request permission to do so by using the SEND US A MESSAGE form in the CONTACT page, indicating the title of your publication.

It is prohibited to publish the MoCA test and/or instructions and/or a link leading to these in newspaper and magazine articles (including electronic articles). The MoCA is intended for healthcare professionals.

Training and Certification

To ensure consistency and accuracy training and certification to administer and score the MoCA Test has become mandatory since September 1st 2019. You will have one year to complete MoCA’s Official standardized training and certification program . After Sep 1st 2020, access to the test will not be possible if training and certification are not completed.

If you wish to continue using the MoCA Test without being officially trained and certified, you will be at increased risk for administration, scoring and interpretation errors which could lead to misdiagnosis and liability.

Since September 1st 2019, Training and certification has become mandatory to administer and score the MoCA Test for clinical, research and educational use. Only certified users will be able to access the test.

Web Use

The MoCA test and instructions are only to be accessed through the MoCA website (www.mocatest.org). It is therefore prohibited to post the MoCA test and/or instructions on a website.

Development

The MoCA is copyrighted. The development of material related to the MoCA, including the development of an electronic version of the MoCA or any other electronic material, is prohibited.
